We will be completing our study on Communities and Community Workers with a Career Day. This day of celebration will be a very exciting day for our class.
There are two parts to Career Day. The first part is for your child to choose a Community Worker that he/she would like to be. They will dress up like that worker on Career Day and give a short presentation. The presentation will include who they are, what kind of job they do, and anything else they can share. For example:
"I am a doctor. I work in a hospital. I help people get better when they are sick. Here are some of my tools. I use a stethoscope to listen to heartbeats. I use a thermometer to take temperatures."
The children will have a chance to ask each other questions as well.
The second part is for parents and grandparents to come in and share with us what you do/did for work. Your presentation can be about 10-15 minutes. You can talk, read a story, do a demonstration, give out samples, etc. While you may not view your job as adventurous or exciting, we do! Our class is really looking forward to seeing some grownups share with us how they work in our community. We hope to get a large variety of jobs on Career Day.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this special day. It will really be a wonderful culmination of our unit on Community!
