It is so hard to believe that when we get back to school from Thanksgiving break, the season of Christmas will be upon us! I have a very special Season of Advent planned for our class and I am beyond excited about it! It is from the ebook called: Truth in the Tinsel.
Each day, we will spend some time reading a verse from Scripture while creating an ornament related to the verse. The verses are all related to The Nativity Story of Jesus' birth. The children will hear a piece of the story that they know oh so well each day as they create a memory of that piece of the story. We will use these ornaments to decorate our class Christmas tree. Right before Christmas break, the children will have a beautiful collection of Scripture based ornaments to bring home and hang on their own Christmas tree.
So, what do we need to pull this off? I need volunteers to come in and help with the crafting! I also need some basic, "I have this in my home" supplies! Take a look at the list below and if you have any of these items, please send them in. PLEASE DO NOT GO SHOPPING! I know we can pull these items together from our craft closets and kitchens!
Tissue Paper in Assorted Colors
Sequins
Beads
Christmas Wrapping Paper
Pipe Cleaners
Jingle Bells
Ribbon
Slotted Clothes Pin
Felt
Glitter Glue
Water Color Paints
Paintbrushes
Old CDs or DVDs
Flat Marbles
Glittery Craft Foam
Magazines to cut
Cardboard Egg Cartons
Model Magic Clay
White Yarn
Plastic Forks
Wiggly Eyes
Old Christmas Cards (that we can cut up)
Tri Beads (the ones that stack when you bead them together)
Ok, so that's it! Ha Ha! Like I said, please don't go shopping. I know we can scrounge this stuff up and it will be great! If you can come in to assist one day, please let me know which day. My plan is to do this right after lunch at 11:40. (So, if you wanted to eat lunch with your child first, you could!) It should take between 30 - 45 minutes..... if all goes well!
Thanks so much for being such wonderful, supportive families. I am looking forward to a blessed Advent Season with your children as we learn about the birth of Jesus.
